Advocacy Collateral and Infographics

Canadian Home Builders’ Association of British Columbia (CHBA BC)

Publication design and information visualization for advocacy communications.

Approval sequencing roadmap illustrating key stages and delays affecting residential construction projects.

Project Context

DesignGeist developed a suite of advocacy collateral for the Canadian Home Builders’ Association of British Columbia (CHBA BC) in support of Legislature Day in Victoria, a government relations event that engages elected officials and senior stakeholders.

The work focused on translating policy priorities and industry information into clear, accessible visual formats suited to a high-visibility, time-limited setting.

Design Challenge

The primary design challenge was to communicate complex policy and industry information in a way that supported fast comprehension, meaningful conversation, and information retention among government audiences.

Communication Requirements

The materials needed to:

  • Translate dense content into clear visual narratives
  • Support both in-person discussion and take-away use
  • Maintain consistency across multiple formats
  • Reinforce CHBA BC’s institutional credibility

Design Approach

The design approach emphasized clarity, hierarchy, and visual cohesion.

Information was structured to prioritize key messages, using custom icons and infographics to reduce reliance on text. A roadmap-style infographic was developed to visually sequence recommendations, allowing audiences to understand priorities at a glance.

Illustrative elements, including a tangram-inspired metaphor, were used selectively to reinforce themes of collaboration and structure while maintaining a professional tone. All materials were designed for seamless use across print and event display formats.

Deliverables

DesignGeist was responsible for the visual strategy and production-ready deliverables for this project, including:

  • Advocacy collateral for Legislature Day
  • Infographics translating key data and recommendations
  • Postcard design used as both handout and display material

Outcome

The final materials provided CHBA BC with a cohesive visual system that supported stakeholder engagement during Legislature Day and can be adapted for future advocacy initiatives. The work enabled clear visuals of complex information while strengthening the organization’s presence in a government-facing context.
